Twelve Days of Christmas Past! (Day 8)

I would like to introduce you all to a new character to our fun little fairy tale, and her name is Little Princess. Say hello.

Little Princess is my sister's daughter, thus entitling me to be the most awesome-est coolest aunt ever possible! Let me tell you why I call her Little Princess because it's just that funny.

Her mom -- my sister -- and who I'm going to affectionately call Goldilocks because that was the color of her hair before she starting dying it dark (he...he...he...), is a tom boy. And by tom boy, I mean that while she was pregnant with Little Princess, she insisted to us (the wonderful gift-giving women folk of this fairy tale clan) that she would never have her baby girl dress in pink, frilly, lacey, or anything that had "princess" written on it.

Okay. FINE. No pink. No princess. That was the rule.

So we bought purple, and we bought bright green and yellow. Every color of the rainbow EXCEPT pink. Zilcho on the pink. Okay, except for an occasional "Well, I HAD to buy it because that's the only color they had!!" Go figure they only make pink things for girls...what a profound idea.

Next thing we knew, baby was born, and no pink was worn or touched or held. Nada.

Then she started talking. And then came daycare.

Somewhere in the midst of Goldilocks going to work and leaving the baby at daycare, Little Princess discovered the Wonderful World of Disney. And what does Disney advocate?

Oh, you got it. Princesses. In every shape, size, color and variety you can possibly wrap your pretty little Tinkerbell head around. Just imagine the possibilities.

And what does my wonderful niece do now that she is two and a half, and has an excessively two and a half year old attitude?

She refuses to wear anything except pink and princess. Absolutely. Refuses.

And I think it's fantastic.

So since this post is all about the good things that happened this year, here it is: I am very happy that my sister had a daughter that drives her crazy with her pinkness and princess-ness because it's almost like it's paying her back for all the crap she put me through as the baby of the family.

Payback's a stinker #1.

Sincerely, #2.

For the Eighth Day of Christmas Past, I love the fact that I have an awesome niece that drives my sister crazy by being two!!
