And the winner is...!!

Okay, so I'm not as cool as other bloggers and give away awesome prizes. No, I'm not even close to being that cool.

However, I will warn you that this is totally a bragging post, and you can continue reading if you feel so inclined.

Now, with all disclaimers aside, I just have to say...

I'M AWESOME!

No, really.

Just kidding.

But seriously.

Here's the rundown:

So this last weekend I went to a national leadership conference for a service organization I am involved with (Arnold Air Society). We do totally awesome projects and this year's project was all about raising cancer awareness and fundraising for cancer families, etc. Basically anything to do with cancer. It is probably one of the best organizations I have ever been involved with and because I love it so much, I pretty much bust my butt to make things happen for it. I have been assigned to being a Public Affairs officer for the past year, and it has been hard, demanding, emotional but totally worth it.

With that said, apparently I did a good enough job (hehe) to win two national awards for being the PA out of all the 135 universities that are involved in Arnold Air. Here's the first:

"National Outstanding PA of the Year"

Here's the second:

"General John D. Ryan Outstanding Public Affairs Award recognizes the outstanding
PA program in the country."

Okay, so that was the big thing that happened last weekend in Phoenix. In addition to my awards, my entire squadron ended up coming by with 12 awards overall. It was awesome!

When we got back from Phoenix, we started prepping for Parade, which is an AF awards ceremony that happened yesterday. Basically, we stand at attention for an hour while they call out awards, at which point you can run up to the front to get it.

Luckily, they called my name three times.

All three of the awards I received add bling to my uniform -- woot! Here's a picture of two of them:

The award on the left is the Reserve Officer Association Award which "
recognizes an outstanding sophomore, junior, and senior cadet. These individuals earned this award as a result of their demonstrated leadership skills and positive professional attitudes."

The award on the right is the Daughters of the American Revolution award which "
recognizes an outstanding senior cadet who is actively engaged in the ROTC program, possesses individual characteristics contributing to leadership and has demonstrated a high level of academic excellence and military skills."

The last award is the AFROTC Commendation Award which "
is given to no more than 10% of the cadet corps for both singular and sustained acts of leadership excellence."

Sorry, no picture with this one. It doesn't have a medal with it, but it is a ribbon that I could put on my uniform. Yay for bling!

They all kind of sound the same but that's okay. I like them all anyway.

Alrighty. So that's that then.

And the last and most awesome thing that happened this week is I found out is....

Nope, not pregnant.

Nope, didn't win a million dollars.

Nope, I'm not going to the moon.

EVEN BETTER!!

Okay, maybe not, but I think it's pretty cool.

I officially have a job when I graduate...and I already know what it is!!

In May 2010, I will be the Air Force's newest Developmental Mechanical Engineer! (Or a 62EXH, for you Air Force savvy folks!)

Isn't that great?!

Okay, so it's been a pretty good week, and I'll stop bragging now. ;)

Have a great day! And pray for no more snow!!!!
