Before I get to our awesome trip, I have a few quick pictures to show from during this week. There is going to be an overall theme to this week's pictures: it was Thomas's birthday this week. And because his birthday is on the 22nd, it always get overshadowed by the HUGE Utah holiday that occurs on the 24th, and the fact that two of his cousins' birthday are on the 24th so he pretty much gets forgotten for his birthday. But because I'm an amazing wife, I LOVE making a big deal out of his birthday (even though he hates it). Anything I can do to embarass him for his birthday, I'm in. Anyway, to the pictures.
We went and finally saw Harry Potter on a double date with some of our friends, and it was AWESOME! I loved it, and that's saying a lot because I hate the others. Anyway, this is us waiting for the movie to start.
It's really blurry, sorry. I had to take the picture with my phone. And after the movie, we tried out a new restaurant in town, Beehive Grill, and the food was pretty much...well...blah. But our friend Earl ordered the Super Spicy Chicken Wings, and he pretty much cried because of it. See the tears??
On Thomas's actual birthday, he was in class all day, so we went out to dinner and got some dessert afterwards. I told him that we could go anywhere he wanted, and he went and chose Costa Vida. Silly boys. Could have chosen anywhere, and he chose Costa. Geez. Anyway, here is us eating.
Yes, that is the "Kara, please don't take my picture but since you're going to anyway, I'm giving you this face." During the day when he was in class, I made him a birthday cake. Let me start off by reiterating the fact that I am not the chef in our family. I know I've said this millions of times, but it's totally real. Let's just give the photographic evidence of my uber cake making skills.
(And seriously, it didn't even taste that good. I really do stink at cooking!)
Like I said earlier, we went on a trip this weekend. This summer has been one of frequent trips to home home. And in that same style, we went home for the biggest Utah holiday. Not not Christmas.
PIONEER DAY! And I love it! It's my favorite holiday! Unfortunately, this is probably our last one for awhile because we'll be out in the Air Force somewhere next summer, so I took a ton of pictures. Which explains the lengthy-ness of this post. So let's get started!
When we got home, Thomas's mom wanted to celebrate his birthday too (he...he...he...crazy birthday wife wins again!) and he chose PF Changs. Love. love. LOVE. PF Changs.
While we were there, we saw the servers at PF Changs singing Happy Birthday to another table, and I turned to Thomas and said "Ooh! We could do that for you!!!" All I got back was a very angry glare. They ended up bring this to him instead. No singing. Sad day for crazy birthday wife.
Okay, we're getting toward the end! Woohoo! On Friday morning, we had the famous Fiesta Days Grande Parade, and although I would love to include ALL 179 pictures I took, here's two of them. I plan on making an "Ode to Spanish Fork" post that will include more of these, so here's your preview.
The American Legion led the parade off with the flag. It was really cool. I love seeing veterans with all my heart. Veterans on horses? Even better.
Ultimate Hicktown USA. Yes, they had an entire John Deere tractor section of the parade. It was pretty much awesome.
The last event in this very very busy weekend was one that my dear hubby was dreading -- his five year class reunion. It was a very...odd...experience because everyone was "reliving their most awkward moments in their development." (As hubby puts it). Overall, he made it and we survived.
Very funny story though about the reunion: since I am a year younger than hubs, I went to school with all the people at the reunion and am friends with most of them. And even though it was Thomas's class reunion, most of them recognized me before Thomas and were like "Where's Thomas??" when he was standing right behind me. It was awesome. And they all told Thomas "Geez, dude, all your hair went from your head to your face." Lol. Best comment ever. Good thing he accepts the fact that he is 23 and balding. I love my hubby!
The question is, where were all you guys that I KNOW you graduated with Thomas that didn't show up?!

Alas, I am in California and missed the reunion. But OH WELL. Tell me, what did I miss? Anything good?
Also, why on earth did they hold it at the middle school and not the high school? Kinda lame...
I'll make the ten year I guess! :P
I love the post! It was good to see you last night-both of you! I love your hair, and it would look super cute shorter-messy and spiky. And I really like the no hair on top, but facial hair for Thomas, I didn't think he was balding. My husband has a full head of hair, but couldn't grow enough facial hair to look good ever! I loved the veterans in the parade as well, and thought the tractor section was pretty funny-but loved the pink tractor!
Happy Birthday Thomas!!
I'm laughing because my 20th Highschool Reunion was this last weekend. I didn't go.
I thought your cake looked yummy.
Yay for the 24th in Utah! :) Super fun.
I'll be home this weekend, so I'll definitely be there for Orientation!
And my vote is with cutting your hair. 1) I think it will look super cute, because you have an adorable face 2) It's fun to cut your hair 3) Even if you end up not liking it much, it will always grow back, so you may as well cut it to see if you like it, yes?
