[ why do we do this to ourselves?? ]

You know that feeling when there is something in your house that is absolutely disgusting, but you can't bring yourself to get down and pull on those super attractive yellow gloves and get a little dirty? Maybe it's a toilet. Maybe it's that obnoxious corner in the bathroom behind the garbage can. Maybe it's that shelf with your wedding photo that you haven't dusted since you've been married. (PS. Our second anniversary is in two weeks! Woot! Go us! We haven't killed each other yet!)

For me, it's my kitchen floor. And the problem wasn't that it was dirty. At least not that we noticed. In fact, because we've been walking on it all day, every day, you just don't think about it. You think, "Hmm...That's my floor." And then I would mop it and some of the dirt would come up and I'd think, "Hmm...That's much better."

Then I had a revelation. Well, kind of. I've been eyeing a new mop at my favorite Wally store, but can't seem to bring myself to pay that sort of price for it. So I had a thought about another one of my favorite cleaning supplies: Mr. Clean's Magic Erasers.

Let's just put my love for magic erasers this way: if I hadn't married PP, I would have married Mr. Clean. I love him THAT much.

So my revelation was this: What if I tried my cleaning equivalent of nectar of the Gods on my floor? Hmm....

Since it's a little hard to explain what happened, I'll just show you some pictures of the results. But note that I'm only showing these to you to to find out if anyone else has this problem in their house. Or maybe I'm just a bad housekeeper.

This next one is pretty gross. You can see my little test spot in front of the stove. Then I started the real work.

Then I got pretty bored halfway through, and ended up sending this picture to PP. Ha!

Okay, so I know that was kind of gross, but am I really the only one with a situation like this?? Tell me about it.

That is amazing. You should frame that i <3 u picture and put it on your dusty shelf with your wedding picture.

PS You are not alone. I hate cleaning the hard stuff, but oh how I love a clean house.

You are definitely not alone! I think it might have something to do with trailers...

Seriously babe--you are NOT the only one with a hideous floor. And part of it is that we never really saw it clean, so it doesn't look like it's THAT dirty, you know? I've come to find that it's super easy to keep clean if you do a day of hard cleaning (which is what it looks like you've done) and then keep it up with a swiffer wetjet mop. That's what I've done!! (Same goes with the shower--I do a really good clean and then just keep it up with that arm and hammer daily shower spray--works like a charm!)

um, I think that's the universal problem with linoleum (sp?) I have the same problem, still haven't figured out how to get it clean. Thanks for the idea though.
