There comes a time in every woman's life (in my case, it's about three times a year) where she's tells her husband/boyfriend/best friend/significant other that "I need a change."
Well, folks, the time has come for this little redhead to "get a change," and this change is coming in the form of a haircut. A drastic haircut, hopefully.
Let me give you a little bit of background information:
I am a redhead (duh). And because of this, I am very attached to my hair. Growing up, I would always have women coming up to me telling me "Oh, her hair is so gorgeous!!" and "I wish I had hair like hers!" and "She's adorable!"
This attitude has created quite a complex for I have been led to believe that to have beautiful hair, you had to have it. And LOTS of it. And so I did.
Okay, ignore my face here people. I'm just trying to make a point.
And it hasn't always been long. There were a few times where I cut it short, trying to see what I would look like.
And I know what you're thinking. Red, that's really not that short! It's like collar bone length! Yes, people. I know. I used to cut it that "short" because once a week (and in a year from now it will be every day), I have to do this:
And pull the whole dang thing back. Now while I know I look positively hot and like I could totally kick your trash with my little electric pick, the bun really seems to take away from the femininity of it all. Let's face it, I kind of hate looking like a man.
So here's the predicament wrapped up in one sentence: I want to cut my hair short enough to wear it in uniform (ie above the collar) but long enough to still look cute when I style it.
Here's about what I look like right now, except it's probably two inches below my collar bone now.

The more day to day version.
I want my hair to still look and feel long-ish, so keep the cut up the back to a minimum, but also have it be a bit shaggy and piecy. Maybe I'm just over my head at the moment.
Oh, and I really love the bangs on the second one.
The worst part is that I'm a wuss!! I'm afraid to cut my hair into a real short 'do! I've always cut it "short" (ie, my version of short), and then tell myself that I look stupid with "short" hair.
Well, what if I cut it into an actual short cut? What if?? WHAT IF??
Maybe it's just hair. Maybe we grow it just to cut it. Maybe it's time.
Any suggestions???? I'm dying here trying to figure out what to do with my freakin' hair!
PS. Oh, and I don't want to dye my hair, so if you suggest that, it's like that I'm going to be stubborn and ignore it. I really am fond of the color.
PPS. HELP!

Do it! You have a beautiful face, so you will look great with any length of hair! I think you should try it if you haven't ever had short hair!
I say go for it. I totally chopped my hair a year and a half ago and I loved it. It was totally different and now it is longish since I neglected to keep getting it cut, but mine was short like you want to cut it. In the end you know if you don't like it, it won't be too long before it is long enough to put in a pony tail and before long it will be back to your shoulders. I like both of the pictures at the end of the post. I also am a fan of flipped out layers-instead of straight down or under just out, but same length or slightly longer than the pics.
I just chopped my hair too although I think yours was a little bit longer, but not my much! I LOVE my new hair! You'll be so glad you did it and it really will grow back if you don't like it. Do something DIFFERENT it's fun!!!
Yay! Do it! As you are probably well aware, I became addicted to cutting my hair. It's very liberating. :) But anyways, I really think you will look great in an a-line type cut.
Woot! Whatever you do, it will be gorgeous, I'm sure. Have fun with it!
...I have the same predicament. Minus the looking like a man every Thursday. I have been wanting to get a hair cut and get some bangs or something....but I'm a chicken. I have to emotionally prepare myself. So, best of luck to you! I'm sure you will look fantastic!
I had long hair my entire life and I cut it 6 months ago.
I wish I had done it LONG ago because I love it and never want it long again!
DO IT!
Love the cut you have shown...I think it would look FAB!
